 The casual atmosphere of The Austing Haus, snuggled into the Sangre de Cristo mountains and surrounded by national forest, welcomes guests from all over the world. You will naturally feel the warmth and friendliness of our quiet mountain inn the minute you arrive at the door.
The Austing Haus is the largest and tallest timber frame building in the United States. The beams are exposed inside and out, presenting The Austing Haus' authentic mountain chalet architecture and character.
The Austing Haus has an all glass exterior that offers excellent views of the mountains and valley. The scenic drive from Taos to The Austing Haus meanders beside a crystal clear mountain stream. The Austing Haus is only one and a half miles from The Taos Ski Valley and eighteen miles from the town of Taos. A wide variety of activities in and around Taos occupy famalies and spouses who are attending meetings. Hiking, fishing, river rafting, high desert golfing at The Taos Country Club, mountain biking, art galleries and tennis are some of the things to do in the summer.
The Austing Haus offers winter lodging for cross country and downhill skiing, horse drawn sliegh rides and limited night life durring the ski season. Shopping, The Taos Pueblo, The Rio Grande Bridge, driving The Enchanted Circle and many other site seeing activities are available year 'round. Our graciously appointed rooms offer a quiet place to relax. Many of the rooms at The Austing Haus have wood burning fire places, some have extra beds in sleeping lofts and are all equipped with phones, a television and full service private baths. Room service is available during ski season for romantic dinners or the convenience of not leaving your room after an eventful day. After a long day of skiing or hiking, the centrally located hot tub room is the perfect place to relax. Our profesional staff is trained to provide exemplary service.
